Our story · est. 1952

Seventy years of flour on our hands.

A tiny shop at 4 Stevenson Avenue, Dandenong North, carrying recipes from Kabul that go back generations. Seventy years of baking Afghan pastries — coconut puffs, cardamom shortbread, braided breads. Every item still goes out the door the morning it's baked.

01The beginning

A shop, an oven, and a stubborn idea.

We first opened in 1952 with recipes carried from Kabul — cardamom shortbread, coconut puff pastries, braided sesame breads. Melbourne hadn't tasted Afghan baking like this. Now newly reopened at 4 Stevenson Avenue, Dandenong North, the recipes haven't changed, the techniques haven't changed, and the third generation still makes everything by hand.

If it’s not good enough for our own table, it doesn’t go on yours.
